Dear Volunteer,
We are so glad that you are a part of the team here at the Kalamazoo Deacons’ Conference (KDC). You are very valuable to us and we pray that you will gain encouragement and strength as well as sharpening your skills for employment.
All new or returning participants will be on probation for 30 days. Failure to comply with the rules listed below will result in immediate termination. While on probation, the following is absolutely prohibited: 1) absenteeism 2) tardies. Either one of these occurrences will result in immediate termination.
All participants must adhere to KDC rules listed below. If/when a violation occurs, the sanctions are:
• 1st Violation----Verbal Warning
• 2nd Violation----Written Warning and Time off
• 3rd Violation----Possible Termination
1. The Kalamazoo Deacons’ Conference requires all JET participants to fill out a time sheet and turn it into your supervisor weekly. ALL participants MUST log in at the time clock when arriving and log out when leaving. Failure to do so may risk future participation in the JET program at KDC. You are responsible for signing in and out. Failure to log in or out will result in the loss of recorded time for that day. Logging someone’s time is strictly prohibited and will lead to immediate termination.
2. BE ON TIME on your scheduled day to work. If you’re unable or going to be late to work that day, call your supervisor before your work shift begins. Punctuality is a must!
3. After your probationary period, if you need a day off, please submit your request in writing to your supervisor. Once your supervisor has signed your request, they will inform you within 24 hours. You be will be allowed 2 occurrences (calling in) without written excuses, thereafter you MUST produce written verification on why you were absence. Failure to provide that information may result in program termination.
4. No cell phone use will be allowed during a non-break time. You must lock up the following in the locked locker provided upon arrival: (purses, backpacks, duffle bags, cell phones, misc. bags). Your supervisor will provide access when on a break or when leaving.
5. NO PERSONAL CALLS unless it is an emergency.
6. CLOTHING MUST BE APPROPRIATE FOR AREA OF ASSIGNMENT. There will be absolutely NO TIGHT PANTS, SHORT SHORTS, and TIGHT T-SHIRTS. NO LOW CUT DRESSES or HANGING, DROOPY PANTS. ALL TATTOOS MUST BE COVERED. If your supervisor feels your attire is not appropriate, you may be sent home. In the clothing department you must come casually dressed: dress slacks, blouse or sweater or casual shirt. Jeans are permitted only with the fore mentioned requirements. In the warehouse, you must wear clean, neat jeans, no oversized shirt.
7. Supervisor MUST APPROVE BREAKS. Break allowances are as follows:
• 4-hour shifts are allowed one 15-minute break.
• 5-hour shifts are allowed one 20-minute break.
• 6-7 hour shifts are allowed one 25-minute break.
• 8-hour shifts are allowed one 15-minute morning and one 30-minute lunch break.
8. ANYTHING TAKEN WITHOUT PERMISSION WILL RESULT IN IMMEDIATE TERMINATION.
