OFFICE AND ADMINISTRATIVE VOLUNTEERS:Date Entry
The Deacon Conference is in the process of going wireless. All guest records need to be entered into our computer system. A volunteer in this position may choose a very flexible schedule. Basic typing skills are required. Call Kenny (344-7333, ext. 11).

Receptionist
Welcome and register guests. Answer phones and manage the waiting room. This is a challenging, interesting and interactive job. Call Kenny (344-7333, ext. 11).

Grant Writing
Matthew 7: 7-8  Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened. Help in exploring and writing grants is necessary to secure adequate funding for KDC programs and operations. Call Terri (344-7333 Ext. 12).

Administrative
From making photocopies, helping with mailings, and writing notes of appreciation,

GUEST SERVICES

Direct Response Servant
Caring individuals who listen to guests and share Christ’s love are the gifts of a Direct Response Servant. They assess individual needs and assist in both tangible and spiritual ways. Ability to commit to a consistent time frame each week is preferred; complete training is given to all interested volunteers. (Call Terri 344-7333, ext. 12)

Driver
KDC has a truck. We need a driver to help with picking up furniture and appliances donations. Also, many of our guests who receive furniture have no way to bring it to their home – KDC would like to help by delivering furniture, on the first and third Saturdays of each month from 9 am – 1 pm. A valid driver’s license and good driving record are required. (Call Kenny 344-7333, ext. 11)

Saturday help
KDC is open the first and third Saturdays of each month from 9 am to 1 pm to receive donations and allow guests to pick up furniture. A volunteer(s) to oversee donations and help load furniture is needed. (Call Kenny 344-7333, ext. 11)

Clothing

FACE IT VOLUNTEERS:

Want to help? Everyone has something to offer and there are many ways that God can use you to be a blessing to the women of our Face It program.

Supplies: As part of our program we seek to help women change how they feel about themselves on the inside as well as the outside. We want them to realize their true potential whether it’s by helping them to move forward and forgive those who have hurt them or by doing makeovers and giving them professional business attire that will help them to feel more confident about themselves and get a job. Likewise, we are always in need of makeover supplies- makeup, nail polish, lotion, face wash, etc. We are also looking forprofessional business attire such as new or used women’s suits, button down shirts, and dress shoes and socks. At the end of each 6 week session there is a celebration where each woman is given a gift bag, so any little gifts such as candy or a women’s devotional book, or a nice smelling candle or bath soap etc would be appreciated as well.

Meals: We like to bless the women of Face It by providing a nice meal during Friday morning sessions. In our first session we even talk about dinner etiquette and set up a fancy meal for them to enjoy and practice using these skills. If you are gifted in the kitchen, we would love to have you make a meal for 8 or so women on a Friday morning.

Speaking: Your story is one of the most powerful tools you possess. Sharing about God’s faithfulness in your life or wisdom that you have gained from obstacles that you have overcome, has a huge impact on those who are going through similar struggles and are in need of hope and encouragement. Or are you a businessman/ woman who could talk about qualities you look for in hiring an employee?  Or you could be a stay at home momwho would love to come give some parenting tips and suggestions. The possibilities are endless.

Facilities:  Do you have access to a boardroom that we could take the women to for one session? It is our desire to show them that another life is possible, to have them get dressed up in business attire and go someplace where they can feel professional and listen to a presentation/ talk about the importance of hard work and setting goals for themselves.

Donations:  Of course financial gifts are always welcome. The more money we have the more women we are able to reach and allow into the program.

EVENTS

Treasure Sale
People are needed to help price items on a regular basis to prepare for our bi-annual sales. The next Treasure Sale is scheduled for April. We have chair people, but are looking for assistance to set up and price the week of the sale, working during the two day sale and cleaning up.  Call Joni (344-7333, ext. 13)

Holidays
***  People to adopt families for the holidays.

***  Volunteers to pick up donations that KDC will receive from Toys for Tots; help sorting donations and setting up for the annual distribution of toys to KDC guests. Call Lee (344-7333, ext. 24)

Summer Gathering
The Summer Gathering is an annual event held in LaCrone Park to celebrate the end of school and the beginning of summer. This event is free of charge to all who attend. There will not be a Summer Gathering in 2011 due to the reconstruction work being done in LaCrone Park.  Join us for a GRAND OPENING in 2012!!!  A chair person is needed for this event for next year as well as volunteers to help set up, oversee individual games during the event and clean up. Round Ball Classic
This annual basketball tournament requires coaches, referees and help with concessions.

Run for the Son
This event is sponsored by local churches, but is a major fund raiser for the Deacons Conference. Business sponsors, volunteers and participants are all necessary to make this event a success. Call Joni (344-7333, ext. 13) for more information.
